Today at the US Open

Britain's Dan Evans hopes to continue his fairytale run at the US Open when he takes on Bernard Tomic in the second round on Thursday.

The 23-year-old has enjoyed a breakout year in 2013 and his improvement culminated with him winning the first grand slam match of his career on Monday.He stunned 11th seed Kei Nishikori in straight sets in the first round and will now take on rising Australian star Bernard Tomic for a place in the last 32.
Evans is third up on Court 17 and although he is again an outsider, the in-form qualifier is a real threat against an erratic opponent who needed five sets to get past Albert Ramos in the opening round.
Evans is the only Brit in singles action on day four of the tournament, which sees former champions Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal play their second round matches.

Both Federer and Nadal will be on Arthur Ashe Stadium against South American opposition, the former facing Carlos Berlocq of Argentina in the afternoon session and the latter taking on Brazilian Rogerio Dutra Silva under the lights.
The other prime-time slot is given to former finalist Caroline Wozniacki, the No 6 seed going up against experienced South African Chanelle Scheepers.
Several women's second round matches were cancelled due to the rain on Wednesday, meaning most of the big names are scheduled to be in action on Thursday.

 

US Open - Day Three

Top seed and defending champion Serena Williams faces Kazakhstan's Galina Voskoboeva a day later than originally planned, but it would be a big upset if the American does not make short work of her opponent when they do finally get on court.
Second seed Victoria Azarenka will play Aleksandra Wozniak on Louis Armstrong Stadium, while No 4 seed Sara Errani opens on Arthur Ashe against fellow Italian Flavia Pennetta.
Of the top 10 seeds only Agnieszka Radwanska and Li Na, who both won before the heavens opened on Wednesday, are able to take the day off.
On the men's side, fourth seed David Ferrer will face Roberto Bautista Agut in an all-Spanish clash on Louis Armstrong, the same court that sees home favourite and Cincinnati Masters finalist John Isner take on dangerous Frenchman Gael Monfils in the evening.
